INTRODUCTION Kochia

There are currently 10 different types (known as 'biotypes') of herbicide resistant weeds in South Dakota. The first herbicide resistant weed reported from South Dakota is Kochia (Kochia scoparia) with resistance to chlorsulfuron, reported in 1988. The most widespread resistant weed of South Dakota is Kochia (Kochia scoparia)and is found primarily in Cropland, and Wheat. Wild Oat (Avena fatua), with resistance to fenoxaprop-ethyl, and mesosulfuron-methyl is the most recently discovered (2012) new type of resistant weed in South Dakota.
If we do not have a picture for this weed, or you can provide a better picture (scan, digital camera etc) please please e-mail it to us.
